Pamplona Typeface

Type design
Research

Brief
The goal is to create a revival typeface inspired by the distinctive but unrefined letterforms seen during my cultural immersion in the Basque city of Pamplona.

The ambition is to create a modern and versatile yet uniquely ownable font for Basque use, that aims to assist their current cultural revitalisation movement.
Solution
The typeface has distinctive Basque features, such as its playful variation in stem thickness and its iconic crossbar angle, now with a smooth friendly curve. The typeface's bold weight allows it to be versatile in use on a variety of mediums, colours and backgrounds.
